Enjoy Pie Day at The Groes Inn
IMAGE

These days, there seems to be a dedicated day for everything. Most of them are rather silly (We’re looking at you, Bathtub Day), but there’s a particular week which we think is well worth celebrating this March.

From March 6th – 12th, it’s officially British Pie Week. Not to be confused with the annual mathematical Pi Day on March 14th, this event is all about celebrating the tastiest pies within the UK.

The people of the UK are already known for their appreciation of a good old pie, so it seems justified to have a whole week of recognition for those tasty pastry encased delights.

If you’re looking for restaurants in Conwy to visit during Pie Week, the Groes Inn is dedicating a whole day to celebrating Welsh pies. Throughout Thursday, March 9th, you can pop in and enjoy a freshly baked pie of your choice, filled with tasty seasonal vegetables and tender meats.

With research showing that around 75% of people tuck into a pie at least once a month, we think they’re certainly onto a winner with this event. Another interesting pie fact is that the pastry which encases the filling used to be just that - a container. Nowadays, whether it's puff pastry or shortcrust, the container is just as enjoyed as the filling itself.

At the Groes Inn, they pride themselves on using the most locally-sourced ingredients as possible, which ensures that every meal created in the restaurant is of the utmost freshness, before you tuck into it and enjoy.

A pint can be the perfect accompaniment to a pie, and the Groes Inn certainly doesn’t fall flat when it comes to their choices of ale. So much so in fact, that they even have their very own special blend of Groes Ale on tap, which has come highly recommended from many of their guests.

You’ll also have a choice of a wide range of regional and local beers, which are frequently changing. If you’ve visited before, there’s a good chance you’ll be greeted to a brand new range of beers to sample next time you’re there.

For those who prefer a glass of wine during a meal, the Groes Inn also has a handpicked wine list, which includes wine varieties from across the globe. There’s even a luxurious champagne list to browse, although we’re not sure a bottle of Cristal Brut would be the perfect accompaniment to good old-fashioned pie…
