Family-Centric stays & Self Catering in Llandudno
IMAGE

Llandudno and the surrounding Conwy and Colwyn Bay areas are all blessed with scenic and picturesque surroundings, rich local history, Victorian architecture, a multitude of nature reserves and historic buildings. That being said, we understand that children might not value the experience as much as parents. Sometimes all they want is a play area… but that’s not what adults want. It’s a tricky situation, and it’s genuinely difficult to keep everyone happy. Planning your break accordingly can mean that all members of the family have a great experience from your stay. We’ve prepared a few options for those who would like varied experience as part of their self catering Llandudno holiday.

1: Bodafon Farm Park
Situated at the end of the Little Orme, Bodafon Farm Park offers a great day out for all of the family, and is free admission, open all year round. Children are offered a fun day out with tractor rides and an adventure playground, as well as the opportunity to view and feed cows, sheep, pigs, geese, ducks, goats, horses, and even llama and deer! Bodafon Park proves to be more than just a farm. For the adults, the Cartwheel Café serves fresh, home cooked food and cake in the summer season from 10am – 8pm, with a fully licensed bar. Of further note (and highly recommended!) are Bodafon Farm Park’s open-air barbeques and hog roasts.

2: Bonkerz
An excellent option for if the skies open, and proclaimed the best soft play area for miles around. The Bonkerz soft play centre has a unique medieval castle themed environment that boasts columns, stone-carved gargoyles, stone walls and arches, a huge solid wood ceiling – all designed to stimulate your child’s imagination. The soft play area features a mirror maze, astro turf sports zone, air cannons and giant slides. The play areas for over and under 5 year olds are designed to be “hands-on” to aid and promote co-ordination skills, promote co-operation between children in order to progress, and even better, tire them out!

3: Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre
A ski slope, by the seaside? We haven’t gone mad, it’s a dry slope. Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre is enduringly popular, boasting the longest toboggan run in Wales, and a PermaSnow ski slope. The Centre offers ski tutelage for adults, juniors and tots on a group or individual basis. Snowboarding lessons are offered in addition, though it should be noted that open practise is only available for those who meet the Centre’s skill criteria. But don’t worry if you’re a little short on technical skill! Tobogganing is open to all skill levels, is a lot of fun, and the Centre has the longest run in Wales at 750m. For when you’re done, the Alpine Lodge Bar & Restaurant is highly recommended.

4: The Great Orme Tramway
This one should appeal to both the young and old. A proud staple of Llandudno since 1902, the Great Orme Tramway is an extremely popular way to take in the sights of the Great Orme while journeying to the summit while viewing the wild Kashmir goats exclusive to the area. The Tramway runs from late March to late October, 7 days a week, from 10am to 6pm.

5: The Great Orme Bronze Age Mines

Cited as a true wonder of the ancient world, these prehistoric mines were accidentally uncovered during a scheme to landscape an area of the Great Orme. The mines themselves date back 4,000 years and have a 200 metre self-guided tour that makes around 45 minutes, plus a visitors centre and a smelting shelter which shows both the artifacts discovered within the mines from the Bronze Age, as well as showing visitors how our ancestors managed to smelt rock into metal. That, and the original excavation team are still around to answer any questions!

6: Llandudno Pier

A classic, and a real winner for the children. We’re firm believers that Llandudno Pier has something for everyone, with children being delighted by the promenade end of the pier’s arcades which are open all year around from 10am to 10:30pm (on season, 5pm off-season) Considered the best family entertainment centre in North Wales, the arcades themselves have received continued investment in up-to-date machines and games.
